M5S and PD reject the scheduling of the bill on the legalization of cannabis

Through a post on the Instagram profile of Senator Lello Ciampolillo, no longer of the M5S but of the Mixed Group since February, published yesterday we learn of yet another defeat for Italian politics in the face of the much-opposed issue of the legalization of cannabis.
In fact, M5S and PD have rejected Senator Ciampolillo's request to include in the calendar the bill tabled by Matteo Mantero for the legalization of cannabis . The proposal partly follows the one presented by the intergroup for legalization in the previous legislature, and includes: the right to self-production of a maximum of three plants, the right to associated production between a maximum of 30 people (i.e. Cannabis social clubs ), decriminalization of the free transfer of small quantities.
" They basically voted NO together with the right-wing parties ," Ciampolillo comments at the end of the clearly embittered post. But the response from Michele Sodano M5S, also on the front lines in the battle for free cannabis and the first signatory of the appeal sent to Conte a few months ago and signed by about 100 parliamentarians to discuss the issue of legalization, was not long in coming. On social media, he attacks Ciampolillo for "making propaganda and harmful speculation. First and foremost for the battle for legalization itself." He continues in the long post "you have been in the Senate for 8 years, you know very well that you cannot arrive as group leaders and without any preliminary agreement and expect any bill to be scheduled in the current month. I would have liked to be there to be able to tell you these things directly. You can cheat citizens, but to win this battle of civilization, cheaters are useless. It is thanks to these characters that we take steps backwards that nullify the work in the trenches conducted by those who truly care about cannabis."
Finally, in another post, he underlines the fact that Ciampolillo is no longer part of the M5S and claims that his request for a schedule is only a pretext to cast the party that voted for him in a bad light.
Unfortunately, there is little to be surprised about now, given that every time the topic of cannabis reaches the highest levels , it is always sabotaged, distorted or ignored in some way , but there is some good news. Yesterday, an order of the day was approved, present in the decree that extends the health emergency, in which the government undertakes to continue to guarantee the use of cannabis and its derivatives for therapeutic purposes to patients who habitually use it and to increase its availability, and also undertakes to evaluate the opportunity to start a phase of clinical trials of cannabis and its derivatives against the symptoms of Covid-19.
