The Lazio Region approves a M5S motion on light cannabis

A few weeks ago, M5S Councilor Marco Cacciatore had presented a request for approval of an agenda to regulate the trade of light cannabis in our country. On February 28, the Lazio region finally approved an agenda in this regard that includes what Cacciatore was asking for: institutional collaboration with the competent ministries for the preparation of an interpretative circular that outlines in a precise and objective way all the conducts not criminally relevant within the supply chain of “light” hemp sativa. That is, publish a circular that safeguards the production and sale of light cannabis.

The uncertainty in Italy is due to the fact that there is still no serious legislation on the cannabis trade, leaving companies, farmers and shopkeepers who have invested in the sector at a loss and without a directive to follow.
Parliament has never passed a law on industrial hemp, apart from n. 242/2016 which says nothing explicitly about it, so that the sale of light cannabis is regulated.
Not everyone agrees with Cacciatore and says they are unhappy with the decision of the Lazio Region: "It is argued that it is necessary to encourage the sale of light cannabis for 'recreational purposes' as a deterrent to the use of drugs. On the contrary, we believe that the existence of these shops encourages drug use and promotes dangerous behaviors that threaten the right to health enshrined in our Constitution" explain the Brothers of Italy, the first supporters of the anti-cannabis cause.
Today another step has been taken and a small battle has been won by light cannabis.
