Among the official financiers of Giorgia Meloni, leader of the sovereignist and prohibitionist party Fratelli d'Italia, there is also the shareholder of a multinational that is involved in the business of legal Canadian cannabis . The amount paid into the coffers of the political movement is not insignificant: 200 thousand euros .

The facts are reported in a press release issued by the political movement +Europa , which recalled how an investigation by the weekly magazine L'Espresso had highlighted how: "By far the most generous contribution to the party came from names that can be traced back to a multinational made in the USA: together Ylenjia Lucaselli, Daniel Hager and Hc Consulting Srl have in fact given the small nationalist party 200 thousand euros. Hager and Lucaselli are husband and wife. Hager's family is a shareholder of Southern Glazer's Wine and Spirits , the largest US company in the distribution of wines and spirits (according to Forbes estimates in 2016 it had a turnover of 16.5 billion dollars and distributed 60 million bottles of Italian wine in the States)".

The fact is that Southern Glazer's Wine and Spirits has also thrown itself headlong into the big marijuana business, becoming the exclusive distributor of cannabis produced by the Canadian company Aphria Inc. for which it is responsible for "providing distribution coverage of cannabis-based products in all retail outlets in Canada".

A nice blow to coherence for the party that more than any other represents prohibitionism in Italy, there's no doubt about it. Only a few days ago, the militants of Fratelli d'Italia demonstrated to ask for the closure of cannabis shops , and to this end they also presented a bill in Parliament. Of course, we know that - as the ancients used to say - pecunia non olet , however Meloni certainly has something to explain to her militants and it wouldn't be bad if one of the "journalists" who host the television talk shows that host her political rants on a daily basis asked her about it.
