Uzbekistan to Grow Hemp to Revive Rural Areas

The President of the Nation visited the central region of Tashkent to support cultivation in rural areas in Quyi Chirchiq district.

The Uzbek press service announced that its President was visiting this central area of ​​the country where there was previously a hemp production center.

According to local press, at an agricultural exhibition, with hemp as the main player, information was presented on the availability of agricultural machinery for the growing season. Also, new advances in irrigation systems were presented. Emphasis was placed on the reclamation of land for cultivation and agricultural activities in this area of ​​Uzbekistan, and plans for industrial cultivation of hemp were launched.

In Europe, industrial hemp is used (with growing investments) in the automotive industry, not to mention light industry. Since hemp is an organic raw material, in addition to being a powerful antiseptic, it is widely used in construction. The benefits of this crop were mentioned at the rural event held in distant Uzbekistan.

Plans for processing, storage and packaging of this crop as well as other fruit, vegetable and rice crops were presented to the President of the State. Another important aspect that was mentioned was the organization and creation of textile and cotton groups in the districts of the Tashkent region . Several promising projects were presented with the processing of these crops.

Decades ago hemp cultivation was very important in these rural areas and now Uzbekistan wants to be an important country again with the cultivation of this plant that has generated great expectations for the rural world.

Cannabis in Uzbekistan is very socially accepted

Recreational and medical cannabis use remains illegal in this former Soviet country . Although its consumption is quite tolerated by its citizens. In fact, Uzbekistan has a great culture of cannabis use; It is considered something traditional, as well as being very socially accepted. In Uzbek they refer to cannabis as “anasha”; cannabis use is increasing in cities, although for the most part it has remained essentially constant in recent years. It is the most consumed illegal substance in Uzbekistan and it is estimated that 4.2% of the adult population uses it regularly.
